The Four Major Business Blocks
There are four major blocks that can impact everything we do in our businesses. These blocks influence:
Leadership
Vision
Goals
Growth
Culture
Sales
Results
The root of the problem? Most of the time, business owners aren't aware of the blocks that stagnate growth. Certainly not all of them. The conditioning is so strong from beliefs that have been perfected over a lifetime or the duration of an enterprise.
As we move down the list, the blocks increasingly have a greater impact on your business, block more energy, create more intense stress, and ultimately, success on your terms.
Limiting Beliefs
By definition, a limiting belief is something you have accepted about yourself that creates an inner block for you. It could be a personality trait, your yearly income, sales volume, where you fit within your peers, physical accomplishment and the list goes on to infinity.
Limiting beliefs keep you right smack dab in the middle of your comfort zone. Little growth occurs here. Without awareness, your beliefs will inhibit your growth.
Assumptions
By definition, an assumption leads you to believe that just because it happened once, it will happen exactly the same again. An example in sales it that just because one prospect rejected you, so will the next one.
Assumptions steal opportunities. When we see things only one way, we simply miss the opportunity that is right in broad daylight.
Interpretations
By definition, an interpretation is a story you have made up in your mind about something or someone. I like to call it fantasy island. As human beings and business owners, we can really make up some doozies! "I didn't get the account, so I must have said something wrong."
Interpretations impact your attitude and energy profoundly as they lead to rumination and varying episodes of intense stress in our lives. We see things as true, but that's only our perspective. The truth tends to vary greatly when we make wild interpretations.
Gremlins
By definition, a Gremlin is a story we tell ourselves that usually starts out with "I'm not good enough." When the truth is told, we all have a Gremlin when we get to the core. The real questions is, what impact is it having on your business and life?
Gremlins lead to intense stress and a victim mentality. A core emotion of apathy and the result is lethargy. A Gremlin is the biggest block in most businesses. From the leader all the way through the minds of the staff. It can be challenging to flush out, but its effect is profound.
How Do I Help My Clients?
I've been professionally trained to recognize these major blocks in my clients. I help them become aware of their unique blocks, overcome them, reduce the intensity or find acceptance. I've been blessed to have the opportunity to help many clients with all four major blocks and it's really life changing work! It's one of the most fulfilling aspects of coaching!
Conclusion
It all comes back to energy and how it impacts your business. These blocks effect your business today, tomorrow, and how abundantly it grows over time.
If you are authentic with yourself, where do you see an opportunity to remove a block to create a more abundant business?
