Success & Motivation Flows From Here
Motivation is almost mystical. Where does it originate? What turns it on? Often we hear that we can't inspire motivation in somebody else, but is that really true?
Motivation seems to come in seasons of our lives. Some have deep motivations while for others, it tends to remain elusive. Without motivation, success often eludes us.
Ironically, the content for this article came to me while reading a book on Joy. Motivation and Joy don't tend to mingle in the same conversations, but there is a profound link. Often we need motivation to get to a place of Joy. While Joy is a state of mind, activity aids in getting us there. Without motivation, the interference in our lives and businesses remains. That interference robs us of Joy.
While I don't have the secret to motivation and I doubt you do either, here are a few factors to seriously consider:
Anger
Anger is one of our strongest emotions. Anger motivates when the pain becomes so intense that it ignites the fire for change! Anger helps spring you to action!
From personal experience, leading, mentoring, and coaching, anger is often self directed. We become fed up with ourselves. The way we are living or showing up in our businesses is not good enough anymore! On the flip side, anger with somebody else can be highly motivating. It could be directed at a parent, ex-spouse, peer, etc.. I'll show them!
However, anger must be harnessed or it will run out of control like wildfire. There must be boundaries in place. It's not an ideal long term solution, but it will certainly get the train moving!
Desire
Desire is a deep NEED or WANT. I gotta have it! It's a healthier fuel for change than anger. A real desire burns deep down inside you. You often wake up thinking about it or harness it to keep persisting towards a goal.
Desire can be intrinsic or extrinsic. I've personally had strong desires originate from both in my adult life. Intrinsic and extrinsic desires are both healthy with strong morals.
Extrinsic: X amount of money in the bank. Live in X neighborhood. Obtain X car. Win X award. Be the top salesperson.
Intrinsic: Become a healthier person. A better Dad. More supportive spouse. Respected leader. Trusted mentor.
I believe we all need a place to grow to. Growth is the spice of life. A deep desire for something or to be somebody often creates deep desire. Often it's how we want to FEEL that motivates us.
Passion
Absolute passion is at the top of the food chain when it comes to the quality of energy you exude! You tend to be at your best when nourishing your passion. It's something you love to do! This is when you feel most authentic to yourself.
It's often been there all along, you just didn't have the ability to see it or feel it. The substance originates deep within your highest values. It's who you are at the core. Your passion aligns with you beautifully. It may remain elusive until you have enough experience and maturity to appreciate it.
Passion is where you feel like you are reaching your full potential. Fulfillment and abundance originates here. The possibilities are endless which inspires creativity. Serving or connecting to others is almost non-negotiable.
In Closing
I believe that we can help others find and create motivation. IF they are ready and open to finding it. It's very personal and it often takes deep reflection, work, and time to find. Leadership, mentorship, and coaching is all about helping those that trust us get an A in business and their lives! Iron sharpens iron. Once we understand what motivates an individual that we have been blessed to encourage, we can aid them in gaining awareness and refocusing on their deepest desires and passions.
If you haven't figured it out yet, pouring myself into others is my Passion! Why else would I take the time to write this for you? There is nothing more fulfilling for me than to play a part in the success of another soul. To see them grow and thrive. One of the ways I do that is through coaching! I've had many sessions that have led me to the highest highs I've ever experienced on this planet energetically. Why? It's my absolute passion.
